N.O. Farms Ceramic Works
Whimsical Ceramics for a Whimsical World!

Artist: Jan Newlee Owsley

History: N.O. Farms Ceramic Works began in Ventura, California in April of 1994 by then artist and potter - Jan Newlee Owsley. After studying Ceramics at Ventura College under the direction of Myra Toth Jan knew she wanted to continue this media of art. Working (or as she calls it- 'playing with clay') brought her a lot of joy and she was able to express and share her joy with whimiscal works of clay.
She does both handbuilding and works on the potters wheel, though she prefers handbuilding or combining the two styles.
Jan wanted to be an artist since she was a small child, and has done painting and drawing and she has designed her own award winning satire fruit crate labels for N.O. Farms.

Jan's whimsical style for N.O. Farms Ceramic Works quickly caught on and started selling locally in 1994 at a Crafter's store called 'My Own Space' on Thompson Blvd. in Ventura, California. Within a year the store went out of business. But with that N.O. Farms ceramics started selling at Franky's Restaurant that promoted the arts inside the restaurant on downtown Main Street in Ventura. And then in 1995 began selling at the Street Fairs on Main Street in front of Franky's and at Ventura's downtown Art Walks. At this time N.O. Farms Ceramics was doing well with several pieces being designed, each one original one of a kind work. And started doing custom orders of pets etc. to the locals.
In 2006 Franky's Restaurant sold to another owner, and all the artistic works were removed. That left N.O. Farms Ceramics with very limited venues to sell and market the ceramics. N.O. Farms ceramics dated 2006 to today are considered quite rare and collectable. In 2006 Jan also became disabled and production also of course fell off even further. In 2012 N.O. Farms Ceramics briefly went as O.N. Farms but that line has been discontinued and those pieces are probably less then 15 pieces with that logo, and considered especially rare.

N.O. Farms Ceramic Works Today: We do have extremely limited production and we have some old inventory, and we will be offering that in our Ebay store. And on a very limited basis Jan will do custom orders of a whimsical nature to her style, from dogs with funny expressions, to business card holders with business names etc. and everything in between-mugs, napkin holders, candle holders, steins, custom bowls and so forth.
In 2013 N.O. Farms moved to Post Falls, Idaho and in April of 2015 - has bought shelf space and is now being sold at:
Treasure Towne
Space #17
3930 W. 5th Ave.
Post Falls, Idaho 83854

Jan says: "I know where my ideas and inspiration comes from, but I am awed most by the fact that I somehow in my humble little brain and my used to be sad little heart have made a grand connection to the Great One and laughter and joy now rains down on me. And I give credit to my sweetheart for that."
