MATT THE CAT AND THE JUKE IN THE BACK SHOW
    ON ROCK-IT RADIO #3492.

This week, "The Juke In The Back" looks at how one of R&B's
greatest voices, Lavern Baker, got her start.  Matt The Cat
collects ALL of Baker's early records together in one place.
From her first recordings with the Eddie "Sugarman" Penigar
Orch to her breakthrough sides with The Todd Rhodes Orch
and all the records in-between.  You can really hear how Baker's
sound evolved between 1949 and 1953.  Her true breakthrough
wouldn't come until "Tweedlee Dee" became a huge R&B and
    pop hit in 1955.
Plus, in our "Harlem Hit Parade," celebrate America's National
Pastime with a collection of R&B baseball songs.  Soon after
Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier and signed with the
Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947 and Larry Doby went to the Indians,
blues and rhythm artists started singing about a game that could
    now be enjoyed by everybody.

    2. I Wonder Baby - Eddie "Sugarman" Penigar Orch - RCA 1949
    3. Easy Baby - Eddie "Sugarman" Penigar Orch - RCA 1949
    4. I've Tried - Little Miss Sharecropper - National 1951
    5. How Long - Little Miss Sharecropper  - Flip of above
    6. I Want To Rock - Little Miss Sharecropper - National 1951
    7. Take Out Some Time - Little Miss Sharecropper - Flip of above
    8. Good Daddy - Maurice King & His Wolverines - Columbia 1951 Vox: Bea Baker
    9. I Want A Lavender Cadillac - Maurice King & His Wolverines - Okeh 1951
    10. Make It Good - Maurice King & His Wolverines - Okeh 1951

LANE QUIGLEY AND BILL GREEN FACE OFF AGAIN IN
THE 12TH ANNUAL EAST COAST VS. WEST COAST OLDIES
BATTLE ON ROCK-IT RADIO SHOW #3471

It's an annual Rock-it Radio tradition!  Summer's here (in the
Northern Hemisphere) and the time is right for the 12th Annual
East/West Showdown.  After 11 years, the standings show that the
East has five wins, the West has five wins, and there was one draw.
So this year, be sure to get in your vote to help determine the 2010
    champ.
For newcomers to Rock-it Radio, here's how it works.  Lane Quigley
from "The Memory Lane Show" is a lifelong west coast resident, so
he has selected a dozen tunes from west coast artists.  Bill Green from
"Rock & Roll Retrospective" is originally from the east coast, and
he has matched each of the west tunes with an east coast record
that has something in common.  You are asked to listen to each of
the twelve match-ups and decide, round-by-round, which of the
    songs you prefer.
In addition to presenting fabulous records, Bill and Lane give
fascinating insight about the music, including sound bites from
many of the performers.  The program is in two parts, so please
listen to all twelve rounds, make your choices, and then send
in your ballots to:  Vote@RockitRadio.net .
Five lucky winners will be drawn, and they will win some marvelous prizes courtesy of Bennie Dingo at Rock-it Radio's Studio A.  The program will
be available in the Rock-it Radio Archives throughout the entire
    month of July.
You are not required to use the ballot below, but you are welcome
to copy-and-paste this songlist into your email and indicate your
    preferences round-by-round.

Get your votes in at Vote@RockitRadio.net no later than
July 31, 2010, and good luck in the drawing!!

    ROCK-IT RADIO LAUNCHING PAD FACELIFT
    COMPLETED.

It took awhile but it is now finally complete - of
course we add more shows every month but we hopefully
made the Rock-it Radio Launching Pad more user friendly.
Previously the Online store all of it's vintage radio broadcasts
were listed by date.  It was fine when we had 50 or 100 vintage
rock radio shows remastered onto CD.  But with us now nearing
over 500 it became very hard to find a certain station, State or
    DJ.
The new Launching Pad is now listed alphabetically by
Country, State, then City, Call Letters and DJ and Date.
Hopefully making it easier to find the vintage rock radio
shows of our area and or favorite station or DJ.

Our Rock-it Radio Launching Pad can be found at:
    http://www.rockitradio.net/store.html

The old methond of by date can still be seen at:

    Rock-it Radio Program Webpage Reminder

Remember, if the show that you want to hear is getting close to the bottom of the list of radio shows, you should tune in as soon as you can. These shows to have a high audio quality require a lot of internet bandwidth and memory. And currently we can only afford the 25 latest shows online here at Rock-it Radio.  So, when a new show is put online it knocks the oldest one off the Rock-it Radio archives page.  Usually a show will at least last 16 to 20 days, once it is placed in the archives.
