The Rock-it Radio Geo Cache Team -- Statistics.
Rock-it Radio Geocache Team
Effective in January 2008 -- To help get Bennie Dingo and Jammin' Jan out of the recording studios of
Rock-it Radio and producing oldies shows -- They have finally found a new outlet to help them get out
into the great outdoors once again.
It is called Geo-Caching -- A worldwide hide and seek where a GPS and a nose for snooping around
Public property leads you to a hidden cache treasure. These aren't any fantastic monetary treasures
(at least we haven't found one yet) -- But rather little trinkets and an occasional Geo Coin that is tracked
and can travel several thousand miles. Geo Caching is literally worldwide and anyone of all ages can play.
Basically the way it works is someone will take a cache ... consisting of usually something as small as a pill
bottle or a tupperware container, but the important thing is that it is protected from the inclements of nature and
weather. They will hide it somewhere - near a historic marker, Landmark or place with a beautiful view or
somewhere out that would make a nice drive or somewhere of some personal significance as well. They will
take there GPS units and log the longitude and latitude coordinates and give some hints online on the
website as to help the other parties find it. There is a main website for this sport called geocaching.com

So far we just started this month really and have already met some of the nicest people! And found some
interesting hides and we are really in our 3rd week of this sport as I am typing this.
Some Geocachers have gone so far as to have there own coins made -- Called Geo Coins -- These are collectable
now and many Geo Cachers will place them in these caches and can travel several miles as one is picked up
and taken too a different cache. Some designs are truly unique and represent a certain organization, person,
country or team or organization. Each coin has a trackable number on one side where you can log it in
and follow it's progress across the U.S. or the world. Below are some links that might help you on your
way to the World of Geocaching.
